Gannon Medwick

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for all of the 9 On Your Side viewing are until 9pm. Any thunderstorms that develop will be capable of producing 58+ mph wind gusts and hail. Stay weather aware today, and stay with Storm Team 9 for updates.

Hi, I’m Storm Team 9 Meteorologist Gannon Medwick with your STORM TEAM 9 FORECAST FOR EASTERN NORTH CAROLINAFor the next several days, scattered downpours may develop out of a persistent warm and very humid air mass.  A summery high pressure system will bring slightly higher temperatures and slightly lower rain chances for the Memorial Day Weekend.

WEDNESDAY EVENING FORECAST DETAILS:  Expect continued variable clouds, light breezes, high humidity levels, and a good chance of scattered storms.  All thunderstorms will feature lightning and downpours.  Some thunderstorms could feature 1"+ diameter hailstones or 55mph+ gusts.  Temps will slowly fall through the 70s before 10pm with overnight lows in the 60s inland and holding near 70 at the coast.

EXTENDED FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS:  For the remainder of the work week, days will continue to feature steamy air, afternoon highs mainly in the low to mid 80s, and the risk for scattered downpours.  Over Memorial Day Weekend, expect slightly higher afternoon highs – mainly upper 80s – and slightly lower daily rain chances – mainly in the 10 to 20% range.
